Bakelite Catalin Red & Yellow Inlaid Art Deco Teardrop Flatware Set 24 pc 1930'sFor sale is a Stunning Bakelite or Catalin Flatware Set to include Six - 4 Piece Place Settings, a total of 24 matching pieces to include 6 dinner knives, 6 table or serving spoons, 6 teaspoons and 6 forks. Beautiful design which I would call teardrop; the butterscotch (which is a nice butter color) is inlaid into the red cherry juice (transparent) bakelite handle. Dinner knives are marked Englishtown Hollo Honed Stainless Steel Made in USA, and flatware is marked Stainless Steel. I inspected each piece and found 3 minor flaws; one tablespoon has an internal crack visible from the side, 1 teaspoon has a teeny nick on the edge, and 1 teaspoon has a teeny indent on the edge, which looks like it could have been a manuf defect (see last 3 photos for details). Comes in vintage wooden silverware box. One of the best sets I've seen as far as condition, the set has consistent coloring and is very clean, shiny, stainless is beautiful, ready to use or display; you won't find a nicer set as they don't appear to have ever been used. NOTE, Hand wash only as bakelite cannot go in the dishwasher. Comes from a non-smoking home. Please enlarge the photos for more detail, and let me know if you have any questions.
